She pivoted and pursued a Master’s of business administration (MBA) to carve out a new path that included more involvement in the family business. “My approach has always been that for good or bad, I believe I’m smart, I know what I am doing, and you follow my instructions. You can argue with me and if I feel that it [what is said] is right, I will change it, but the majority of the time, I’ve made a decision, I’m taking a path which I’m leading, and I will continue that,” Kiran said about his headstrong strategy. One of Tampa Bay’s most influential and wealthiest leaders was honored with his family in front of hundreds Sept. 8.
In Florida, the Patel House compound also has two small blocks, each having over 7500sqft space, where the Patels’ two physician daughters will gradually move in with their spouses. “I am very fortunate that all my three children decided to stay in Tampa, which is unusual in this day and age,” the Tampa Bay Times quoted Dr Patel saying in an article. There is dedicated space for yoga and meditation, and a beautiful lotus blossom made of glass draws attention to this relaxing space.

According to Tampa Bay Times, Dr Kiran Patel’s estate covers an enormous 17 acres in Hillsborough County, where it is the largest residential compound ever built. The property houses a 32,000 square feet mansion which has two multibedroom wings. While Dr Kiran Patel and his wife, Pallavi, will occupy one wing, their son, daughter-in-law and their children will reside in the other. Kiran Patel's house is one of the country's largest single-family homes. He then spent the next ten years building his compound, which consists of multiple smaller homes. The massive home was designed by Rojo Architecture, and built by Onicx Construction.
“Everybody will be close enough when you want to see them but far enough if you don't want to see them, including the grandchildren,” he joked in conversation with Tampa Bay Times. The compound, on the inner side, is lined with cypress trees which were planted celebrating Dr Kiran C Patel’s 65th birth anniversary. The 17-acre Surya Estate does also encompass a lake that adds to the serene ambience and scenic beauty of the palatial residence. If the richest Indian business family’s Antilia in Mumbai is a vertical wonder, the Indian-American pharma baron’s Surya Kiran Estate in Tampa is a marvel on ground.
To run their newest endeavors, the team has tapped a number of high-profile hires for both the front and back of the house. Kiran, who was born in Zambia, Africa to Asian-Indian parents, has built an empire by acquiring companies, improving them and taking them to exit. His local legacy began when he moved to Tampa in 1982, initially starting a cardiology practice. A successful cardiologist, Kiran Patel founded the Tampa-based HMO WellCare in 1985 and sold the company to a New York investment group in 2003, becoming an instant multimillionaire in the process. Construction at Surya Estates, the sprawling residential compound of Dr Kiran Patel in Florida, is nearly complete after almost 10 years. The palatial estate, with its archways, turrets and domes, is decidedly incongruous in the Florida neighbourhood where it is located – a fact that has inspired several viral videos on social media.
